Unit pest control Sydney – Units or townhouses are considered as high-density residential areas. From a pest control perspective treating individual units is not always enough to control certain cockroach species, rodents& ants.

Large cockroaches

The American, Oriental or Australian cockroach, live and breed in roof voids, sub floor and inside the walls of buildings.

It is for this reason why just treating one or two units is not enough to eradicate the problem.

German cockroaches

Reside in wet areas such as the kitchen, bathroom & laundry.

If you are seeing small cockroaches in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry it is important to treat the issue as soon as possible.

German cockroaches breed rapidly and can spread throughout an entire unit in a matter of weeks.

Cockroaches need warmth, water, shelter to thrive and the areas mentioned above provide all 3.

Spiders

Australia is home to some of the world’s deadliest spiders such as the funnel-web and red back spider.

A spider issue in or around high-density residential properties must be taken seriously.

When spiders appear inside it often means that pest control has not been conducted externally for an extended period.

Baby spiders appearing on the ceiling often indicate that the roof cavity has not been dusted. A spider has had the ability to lay eggs and the spider-lings that are appearing are a result of this.

Ants

Ants come from external areas, usually ground floor unit blocks and townhouses would be affected by ants more often than higher levels.

Treating 1 unit for ants is not enough to stop ants coming into the unit

An external barrier spray of the common areas should be conducted with specific focus on treating ants.

PNP Pest Control use a spray that is targeted at eradicating the nest & not only surface ants.

Rats & Mice

Another pest that comes from external areas are rats and mice. If a unit has an issue with rats or mice it is important that the external areas of the building are also treated.

Rodent control in high density living areas such as unit blocks or townhouses need to be completed in alliance with NSW & Australian standards.

Baits cannot be placed in any open area where there is a risk of children, pets or wildlife can gain access to the baits.

PNP Pest control will use lockable bait stations in all our strata managed properties to ensure only the safest baiting methods are used.

Lockable rodent stations (also known as bait stations) are an effective tool for controlling rats and mice.

They are specifically designed to prevent unauthorised access to baits, to stop the bait spilling out, ‘crumbs’ being carried away or baits being pulled out by mice and rats.

Recommendations

It is highly recommended that any property that is having an issue with large cockroaches & spiders conduct a spray to the common areas.

Ensuring the following areas area treated:

Roof cavity
Sub floor
Internal common areas
External common areas

Pest Control for large cockroaches & spiders in a unit block or townhouse complex is recommended to be completed on a 4-6 monthly basis.
